About Us

Head Start is a federally funded, early childhood development program for income eligible children and their families, which involves the child’s entire family. Emphasis is placed on meeting the need of the TOTAL CHILD. Head Start performance standards are divided into three major areas. The areas are:

  • Early Childhood Development
  • Family and Community partnership
  • Program Design and Management

Services for three and four year old children and their families are provided in the area of education, disabilities, transition, health, mental health, parent involvement, nutrition, literacy, social services, and administrative and fiscal management.

  Mission Statement

We will adhere to the Winnebago Head Start Performance Standards to foster social competence by recognizing the inter-relatedness of a child's cognitive; intellectual; physical and mental health; nutritional needs; and the child's family and community involvement.

We will provide a safe and nurturing environment, where expectations are appropriate to each child's age, and development stage, as well as their individual and social needs. We will do our best to instill pride of their heritage, and a thirst for more knowledge of their Winnebago language and culture.

We will continue to meet our own educational needs, to expand our own horizons, so that we may better serve all children, their families and our community.

We will pledge all the above, not only because we have a vested interest in seeing our chidren succeed, but because the children we serve are also our relatives.
